Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony before the Jan. 6 committee drew the largest live daytime audience, beating the previous four daytime hearings.

Leading up to Hutchinson’s testimony on June 28, the Jan. 6 hearings saw significant drops in viewership, with the second installment of hearings only drawing 10 million viewers — half the views that the initial prime-time hearing enjoyed.

The numbers from Hutchinson’s testimony indicate a 28% increase, according to the Associated Press. They also top the average viewership of the four daytime hearings by 23%.

In the hearing, Hutchinson made several explosive allegations, including sharing a story she heard from a top Secret Service official that Trump attempted to grab the steering wheel of the presidential limousine and reached for the neck of his head of security when told he could not go to the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, after his speech on the White House Ellipse.

Trump called Hutchinson’s testimony “crazy.”

“Is something wrong with her?” Trump asked on Newsmax on Thursday, denying her claims. “Is something wrong? She said I jumped from a car and I started strangling — think of this, I started strangling a Secret Service agent, who I know very well. I grabbed a steering wheel of a car, said I wanted guns at my rally. I didn’t want guns. I have to speak, too.”

The Jan. 6 committee gave just one day’s notice of last week’s hearing featuring Hutchinson.
