Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) criticized President Joe Biden’s handling of the United States’s aid to Ukraine to its war with Russia, saying he is always “too late.”
Bacon’s statement comes in light of the news of a possible transfer of F-16 jets from the U.S. to Ukraine. Bacon claimed that throughout the war in Ukraine, Biden has been at least four or five months “too late,” with the F-16 jets being “six months too late,” according to a new interview with Fox News.

“As you mentioned it, every step of the way, [Biden] says no, no, and then five or six months later says yes,” said Bacon. “But that’s not very helpful for Ukraine. They need these systems faster.”
The war in Ukraine has lasted for over a year, beginning when Russia invaded the smaller country in February 2022. Bacon stated that it is in “our national interest” that Ukraine wins the war, but that Biden and his team “do a lot of hand-wringing” in their aid.
“They do a lot of second guessing, and triple guessing, and they’re not very aggressive,” said Bacon. “I think they look weak in the eyes of the world.

The news of Biden supporting training Ukrainian pilots on fighter aircraft, including the F-16, has reached Russia, with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko claiming that Western countries are sticking to “an escalation scenario, which carries enormous risks for them.”
Two Ukrainian pilots already went to Arizona in early March to work with the U.S. military to train via a simulator. A military official told the Washington Examiner at the time that the “familiarization event” was a first between U.S. and Ukrainian pilots and that the Ukrainians did not fly any U.S. craft.
