People close to President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, suspect there is another laptop, according to a reporter.
Andrew Rice, a contributing editor for New York Magazine who just wrote about the laptop saga, made the assertion during an appearance Monday on CNN after being shown a clip of the younger Biden telling CBS last year that the discarded device often associated with him could be his while saying he does not know for sure.
HUNTER BIDEN PROSECUTOR MAY LACK KEY INFORMATION, GOP SENATOR WARNS
“I think that, you know — I think that if you accept the fact that Hunter Biden was a person who was addicted to drugs, alcohol, other substances who was going on a sort of journey of self-destruction during this time period, you know, it’s fully plausible to think that he might’ve misplaced an object and not necessarily know what happened to it,” Rice said.
The journalist referred to Hunter Biden’s struggles with substance abuse over the years.
“In fact, people close to him have propagated the idea that perhaps actually there’s a second laptop out there that it might actually trace back to,” he continued, “which goes back to the general point that Hunter Biden was capable of losing more than one laptop that potentially contained devastating information about himself in this time period in his life.”
The main laptop in question and hard drive that purportedly belonged to Hunter Biden was given to a computer shop owner in Delaware to repair in 2019. The hardware was never retrieved, the owner said, and was obtained by the FBI. It contained information about Biden’s personal life and business dealings that have by now been widely reported in the media.
Konstantinos “Gus” Dimitrelos, a former Secret Service agent who has testified as a cyber forensics expert in over 100 classified, criminal, and civil matters at the state, federal, and international levels, found no evidence of any hacking or file manipulation after conducting a forensic examination of a hard drive copy for the Washington Examiner.
There have been other laptops associated with Hunter Biden in media reports over the years. This includes one obtained by the Drug Enforcement Administration in 2020, although a report from NBC said Hunter Biden was not a target of the search or the investigation and that his lawyer got the laptop back.

Hunter Biden revealed he was under federal investigation for his taxes shortly after the 2020 election and is reportedly being scrutinized for possible money laundering and foreign lobbying violations under the Foreign Agents Registration Act. U.S. Attorney David Weiss, the federal prosecutor for Delaware since being appointed by then-President Donald Trump in 2018, is running the criminal investigation. Hunter Biden said in April last year that he was “cooperating completely” with the investigation and insisted he is “100% certain” he will be cleared of wrongdoing.
Federal prosecutors are weighing charges against Hunter Biden for alleged tax violations and for making a false statement in connection to the purchase of a firearm at a time when he should have been blocked from obtaining such a weapon because of a drug addiction, according to a July report from CNN, which noted the investigation had reached a “critical juncture.”
