The FBI will soon find itself under a federal investigation if Republicans capture the House, according to Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY).

Stefanik, the No. 3 Republican in the House, ripped into the FBI for becoming a weapon for Democrats to lodge against their Republican foes. She called for the resignation of Trump-appointed FBI Director Christopher Wray and vowed that Republicans would hold the bureau accountable.

NEW FBI WHISTLEBLOWER CLAIMS BUREAU LEADERSHIP SLOW-WALKED HUNTER BIDEN INVESTIGATION

“In a House Republican majority, Maria, the subpoenas are coming. Jim Jordan has already requested Attorney General Merrick Garland preserve the documents, and they will be called to testify because we will ensure that the FBI is accountable to the American people,” Stefanik declared on Fox Business’s Mornings with Maria.

Piggybacking off Rep. Jim Jordan’s (R-OH) assertion that the FBI is embarking on a “purge” of conservative employees, Stefanik explained that there have been several whistleblowers who have contacted House Republicans about alleged misconduct.

“There have been over 14 whistleblowers that have reached out to House Republicans, specifically ranking member Jim Jordan, our leading Republican on the Judiciary Committee, saying that the FBI is targeting conservatives internally. … So, again, this is politicization,” she said. “This is trying to continue the Democrats’ narrative, and the FBI is not doing their job.”

Tensions between the FBI and Republicans have frayed in recent weeks following the Aug. 8 search and seizure at former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, which Stefanik panned as “outrageous.”

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) previously threatened to investigate the Justice Department over the FBI’s raid.

On the Senate side, Judiciary Committee ranking member Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) have been putting the FBI on the hot seat for whistleblower accounts that the bureau slow-walked its investigation into Hunter Biden’s laptop.

Stefanik claimed the FBI “colluded with big tech to suppress” the laptop story in the run-up to the 2020 election.

Republicans are favored to recapture the House in multiple forecasts, including one from FiveThirtyEight. Last week, McCarthy rolled out the Republican agenda for if the party retakes the House. Among the commitments made was his pledge to “hold Washington accountable.”
