Cheryl Hines, the actress and wife of Robert F. Kennedy Jr, believes that the lack of Secret Service protection for her husband is a political decision.
Hines gave an interview to TMZ Friday after a break in scare in the California home she shares with Kennedy. His campaign has been denied twice by the Homeland Security Department for Secret Service protection and submitted a third request on Wednesday. The actress lamented that they haven’t been approved for protection despite some close calls.

“I’m not sure what it’s going to take,” Hines said. “So, it’s hard. It’s really disappointing.”
Her comments come after Kennedy’s hired private security, Gavin de Becker & Associates, discovered the man on the second floor of the residence Wednesday and detained him until Los Angeles police arrived. The man allegedly asked to see Kennedy. Police cited him with trespassing and released him, only for him to reappear at the residence immediately after.
At the time, Kennedy and Hines were at home. Hines was on Instagram live at the time that the private security detained the man.
“Yes, you’re right I’m being careful about my words because you know, I respect President Biden and the administration and at the same time, it feels like it’s a political strategy,” Hines said.
