Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is pushing people who are speculating about whether his cowboy boots have hidden heels to focus on other subjects, stating that now is “not the time for foot fetishes.”
“Look, Eric, this is no time for foot fetishes. We’ve got serious problems as a country,” DeSantis said in a Thursday night interview with Eric Bolling on Newsmax’s “The Balance,” instead choosing to focus on the Israel-Hamas war and the influx of immigrants at the southern border, among other subjects.

“I know people want to try to divert on to other issues. I know Donald Trump and a lot of his people have been focusing on things like footwear. I’ll tell you this: If Donald Trump can summon the balls to show up to the debate, I’ll wear a boot on my head,” DeSantis quipped.
DeSantis War Room later posted a photo of DeSantis campaign golf balls taunting former President Donald Trump with the caption, “Hey @realDonaldTrump, since you’re having trouble finding yours, buy a pair here.”
DeSantis’s comments come amid internet speculation about whether he uses lifts in his boots to appear taller. The Florida governor finally addressed the rumors on Monday, stating that his boots were “just standard, off-the-rack Lucchese boots.”
“The governor doesn’t pad his boots, but if he ever needed anything to line a pet cage or fold up and wedge under a table leg, that would be the highest and best use for Politico Magazine,” Bryan Griffin, DeSantis’s press secretary, told Politico in an email.
Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley poked fun at DeSantis over the rumors of high heels on Wednesday when asked if she’d wear heels at the third Republican National Committee debate on Nov. 8 to be taller than her opponent.

“Are you wearing higher heels than Ron DeSantis next week at the debate so that you can look taller than him on the stage?” Daily Show host Charlamagne Tha God asked Haley.
“I don’t know. We’ll have to figure that out,” she responded. “I can tell you: I’ve always talked about my high heels. I’ve never hid that from anybody. I’ve always said, ‘Don’t wear ’em if you can’t run in ’em,’ so we’ll see if he can run in ’em.”
