Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is recovering from a heart stent operation earlier this week, according to his son, Andrew Giuliani.
NYC MAYOR ON GIULIANI: ‘FALSELY REPORTING A CRIME IS A CRIME’
The former mayor, who had been campaigning on behalf of his son, was hospitalized at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City after experiencing shortness of breath and sweating on the campaign trail, Andrew Giuliani confirmed while filling in on his father’s radio show Tuesday. Rudy Giuliani was diagnosed with two clogged arteries and underwent surgery to remove both clogs, the former mayor confirmed in a tweet, though he did not tell his family of his symptoms until after Andrew Giuliani lost the race to become the Republican nominee for New York governor to Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY).
“It shows how much he loves this city, state, and country,” Andrew Giuliani said on the radio show, according to the New York Post. “He’s already ready to get back on the campaign trail. He has to take it easy a little bit.”
Andrew Giuliani said his father, who is “tough as nails,” felt discomfort for multiple weeks but remained on the campaign trail anyway.
The topic of Rudy Giuliani’s health arose again on Friday after former President Donald Trump mistakenly claimed his former attorney was watching his speech in Las Vegas from a hospital room due to his heart problems. An attorney for Rudy Giuliani rebutted the claim, saying the former mayor was “out of the hospital & doing pretty good,” according to a tweet from NBC reporter Vaughn Hillyard.

Concerns mounted regarding Rudy Giuliani’s health and safety in recent weeks when an employee at ShopRite on Staten Island slapped the former Trump attorney on the back.
“All of a sudden, I feel this ‘bam!’ on my back,” Rudy Giuliani said. “I don’t know if they helped me not fall down, but I just about fell down — but I didn’t.”
