Nancy Marks filed her resignation from her roles in Santos’s campaign and other committees. It is currently unclear who the new treasurer will be.

An amended form claimed Tom Datwyler was the new treasurer, but a later filing from Datwyler’s lawyer said he has not taken the position. The FEC has requested that the Santos campaign clarify the situation.

Marks had served in Santos’s campaigns in 2020 and 2022, but she has now left the team of the freshman congressman who is embroiled in a scandal over fabrications on his resume.

A new poll from Newsday and Siena College showed that 78% of Santos’s constituents in New York’s 3rd Congressional District believe he should resign.

By political party, 89% of Democrats, 71% of Republicans, and 72% of independent voters surveyed say Santos should step down.

The poll was conducted from Jan. 23-26, with 653 voters being asked their opinion. The margin of error for the poll was 4.4%.
