The White House Correspondents’ Association announced the entertainer for its annual dinner on Thursday.
Roy Wood Jr., a correspondent for The Daily Show, will entertain attendees on April 29.
“It’s an honor to be a part of a long-running tradition of celebrating those members of the media, who work so hard to uncover the truth, and hold our government accountable,” the comedian said in a press release. “It will be a great night that will go down in the history books, or not, depending on which state you live in.”

“Roy Wood Jr. brings a journalistic eye to his comedy. He’s hilarious — but also makes sure his audiences are thinking as they laugh,” said WHCA President and NPR White House correspondent Tamara Keith. “My aim with this year’s dinner is to lift up the importance of a free and independent press to a functioning democracy, so I am thrilled to be able to feature a comedian who gets what journalism is all about.”
According to the WHCA, Wood “has been featured on just about every late-night comedy show on network TV, HBO’s Def Comedy Jam, and was one of the top three finalists on Last Comic Standing on NBC.”

In 2022, Trevor Noah, who worked with Wood on The Daily Show, entertained during the dinner. The dinner was canceled in 2020 and 2021 over pandemic concerns.
Noah even poked fun at the decision to hold the event last year, saying, “You guys spent the last two years telling everyone about the importance of wearing masks and avoiding large, indoor gatherings. Then the second someone offers you a free dinner, you all turn into Joe Rogan, huh?”
