Netflix has ditched the LGBT tag on its new series on gay serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer following social media backlash.

When it originally debuted, Dahmer was marketed under the streaming service’s LGBT tag, among others. However, this didn’t sit right with some, considering the killer’s reputation.

“Lololo that’s hysterical by Netflix. Slapping the LGBTQ tag on Dahmer like ‘Looking for LGBTQ content?? Well boy do we have the show for you! Where every episode another LGBTQ person gets massacred & eaten! It’s like saying Schindler’s List is a family flick for Jewish people,” wrote Barstool host KFC.

Another user posed the scenario: “Imagine clicking on the ‘LGBTQ’ category and this is what you get” alongside a poster for the show.

“Netflix adding dahmer to lgbtq section…uhmmm this is not the kind of representation we want,” one user added.

“If I need to stay in my lane absolutely tell me but anyone else think it’s pretty gross of @netflix to list Dahmer under #LGBTQ, especially when the True Crime tag would have worked?” another asked.

“Yo it’s kinda weird that the dahmer series is in the lgbtq genre on netflix… right?” wrote a different user.

The series, starring Evan Peters, has also landed in hot water because some say it is re-traumatizing the families of Dahmer’s victims.

In 1992, Dahmer was convicted and sentenced for 16 counts of first-degree intentional homicide committed between 1978 and 1991. He remains known for the grisly manner of the murders, which were often followed by acts of cannibalism and necrophilia.

In a tweet last week, one of the victims’ cousins said, “I’m not telling anyone what to watch, I know true crime media is huge rn, but if you’re actually curious about the victims, my family (the Isbell’s) are pissed about this show.”

“It’s retraumatizing over and over again, and for what? How many movies/shows/documentaries do we need?” he further asked.
