Six people are dead after a shooting occurred at a home in Goshen, California.
Two of the six victims are a 17-year-old mother and her 6-month-old baby, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.
The shooting occurred just before 4 a.m. on Monday. Sheriff Mike Boudreaux said in an on-scene interview that a caller reported what they believed to be an active shooter situation, given the number of shots fired.
Police immediately located two victims in the street and one in the doorway of the home upon arrival. Six victims in total were found inside and outside of the home and have all been declared dead after officers performed CPR on all of them.
One victim was alive when police arrived on the scene and was taken to the hospital but later died. The young mother and the baby were shot in the head, Boudreaux said.
The sheriff confirmed that there were survivors from the shooting and that a surviving family was escorted from the scene.
At this time, police believe there are at least two suspects and do not think the shooting was a random act of violence.
“We believe that this was a targeted family. We believe that there are gang associations involved in this scene, as well as potential narcotics investigations,” Boudreaux said.
A search warrant for the home was executed last week for narcotics, Boudreaux said, but he could not provide any further details.

Currently, the sheriff’s office, forensics unit, and homicide and gang detectives are investigating, the office said. Investigators have “potential information” that may lead to suspects, but Boudreaux said police are still working to gather evidence and interviews from multiple people, including friends and family.
“We do have survivors,” he said. “The reason for them surviving this horrific massacre, for lack of a better term, we just don’t have all that information right now, this morning.”
