Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) shouted at Rep. George Santos (R-NY) while he spoke to reporters on the steps of the Capitol after he narrowly avoided expulsion from the House.

Santos was on the steps on the House side of the Capitol when Ocasio-Cortez and Bowman, both “Squad” members, started shouting at him to “resign.”

“Get him out. He gotta go,” Bowman boomed. He could be seen laughing with Ocasio-Cortez, who yelled, “Resign, bro.”

“Resign. Save yourself. Have some dignity,” Bowman yelled at Santos. “New Yorkers need better.”

The House voted 221-204 to refer the matter of Santos’s expulsion to the Ethics Committee for a thorough investigation on Wednesday, a week after Santos was charged and pleaded not guilty to a 13-count criminal indictment from the Justice Department.

Santos left the gaggle of reporters, saying, “Have a great day.” Bowman shouted at him as he left.

After the vote, Bowman also had a heated exchange with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who has adamantly supported Santos throughout his many scandals relating to fabrications of his employment and educational background that have prompted state and federal investigations.

Greene repeatedly said, “Biden is a criminal,” as Bowman engaged with her.

“Your party is hanging by a thread,” Bowman said.

Green replied, “Nah, we gotta get rid of Biden. We gotta save the country.”

Greene started chanting, “Impeach Biden,” but she did not get anyone to join her. Bowman asked Greene and Republicans to drop the “debt ceiling nonsense.”

When Bowman asked her to do something about gun control, Greene responded, “Close the border. Save the children.”

Republicans and Democrats have clashed in recent weeks over how to handle the rise in gun violence and mass shootings, as well as the influx of illegal immigrants at the southern border. These battles are occurring as President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) continue negotiating over raising the debt ceiling.

Biden tweeted on Wednesday that congressional leaders had a “productive meeting” on Tuesday.

“I’m confident that we’ll get to an agreement on the budget, and America will not default. Every leader in the room understands the consequences if we fail to pay our bills,” he wrote.
