A shooting outside a bar in Cincinnati, Ohio, left nine people hospitalized with injuries, and the suspect is still at large.

The shooting occurred in the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood early Sunday morning after a fight broke out, according to a local NBC affiliate in Cincinnati. Police said two officers witnessed the shooting on Main Street, and one officer fired a round at the gunman.

“The suspect that was firing the gun fled the scene, you will see right behind me this is a large scene so its going to take a long time to process this with criminalistics,” Michael John, assistant chief at the Cincinnati Police Department, said to reporters early Sunday morning.

Authorities said the nine victims transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center had non-life-threatening injuries, and a spokesperson for the facility said all were treated and released.

“Today’s events are completely and totally unacceptable,” Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval said in a statement. “The use of guns to solve disputes cannot become a normal part of our culture. I want to express the City’s gratitude to the officers on the scene. Their quick response likely saved many more from injury and prevented the loss of life.”

Police said they plan to give an update on their investigation later in the day Sunday.
