The rebates were approved by the state legislature in September during a special session. The payments will be delivered to residents via either paper checks or direct deposit.

Nearly 800,000 rebates worth approximately $500 million are set to be sent out to residents by the end of March 2023, per the Idaho State Tax Commission. The commission also says the rebates will be used to pay any outstanding tax payments owed to the state by a person before being sent out to the person.
