Pennsylvania residents can apply for a property tax rebate program that will give them some extra cash.

The Pennsylvania Property Tax/Rent Rebate program, offered to residents of the Keystone State annually, will give eligible applicants a rebate worth up to $650, with supplemental rebates for qualifying homeowners worth up to $975. The program is intended to provide some financial assistance to elderly or disabled residents of Pennsylvania, according to the state’s Department of Revenue.

“We strongly encourage eligible applicants to use our online filing system at mypath.pa.gov,” a spokesperson for the state’s Department of Revenue told the Washington Examiner. “Filing online is simple and is the best way for eligible claimants to make sure that their rebate applications are processed as quickly as possible.”

The current deadline to file for this rebate is set for June 30. However, the deadline is typically extended until Dec. 31 to give people more time to file their applications, the spokesperson said.

To be eligible for this rebate, Pennsylvania residents must be at least 65 years old, a widow or widower at least 50 years old, or a person with disabilities at least 18 years old. The income limit for this rebate is $35,000 a year for homeowners and $15,000 a year for renters, with half of any Social Security income they receive excluded.

Homeowners will get $650 from this rebate if they make $8,000 or less annually, $500 if they make $8,001 to $15,000 annually, $300 if they make $15,001 to $18,000 annually, and $250 if they make $18,001 to $35,000 annually. Renters, on the other hand, will receive $650 if they make $8,000 or less annually or $500 if they make $8,001 to $15,000 annually.
