A 17-year-old was arrested in connection with the shooting of a Washington Commanders player, police announced on Wednesday.
The juvenile was arrested by the Metropolitan Police Department and charged with assault with an intent to rob, MPD Chief Robert Contee said, according to the Associated Press. His juvenile status means that police are not revealing key details such as his name or criminal history. The charges are related to the Aug. 28 shooting of Commanders rookie running back Brian Robinson Jr., who was shot twice in the leg at a strip of clubs and bars in the city.

“Violent crimes get solved because of good police work, community involvement, and science,” Contee said, adding that the juvenile was arrested with the help of a tip from someone in the community.

Robinson, a top pick for the Commanders, had to undergo emergency surgery and sit out the first month of the NFL season. He has since made a remarkable recovery, taking to the field on Oct. 9 and performing well in his role, NBC News reported. Head coach Ron Rivera described him as being “in good shape” when he took to the field.

Two other suspects are still being sought by police, including one described by Contee as the getaway driver. It is still unknown whether the criminals were aware of Robinson’s identity and status.
