Allen, 69, is reprising the role of Scott Calvin from the original The Santa Clause film that debuted in 1994.
TIM ALLEN ON KEEPING ‘CHRIST’ IN CHRISTMAS: ‘IT LITERALLY IS A RELIGIOUS HOLIDAY’
For the new streaming series, Allen told Fox News that Allen-Dick was originally expected to play the role of a background elf.
“She just kept drilling it,” he said of his daughter’s casting reading. “I mean, literally, it’s like a golfer that constantly is hitting that pitching wedge on the green.”
Allen-Dick was then cast as Sandra Calvin-Claus, Allen’s character’s daughter.
“It was the most amazing thing in the world to see my kid,” Allen added. “And I had very little to do with it.”
Allen-Dick called the experience of working alongside her father “surreal.”
“He was there when I needed help, but he also let me kind of figure it out, too, which I really liked,” she said, telling Entertainment Tonight that her father taught her how to “get used to the character, make friends with the character, and then kind of add some of your qualities to it and see how you can make it your own.”
Allen has also praised the Disney+ series for the way it has honored the Christmas holiday.

“It’s Christ-mas. It literally is a religious holiday,” he told the Wrap. “We don’t have to blow trumpets, but I do want you to acknowledge it. That’s what this is about. If you want to get into Santa Claus, you’re gonna have to go back to history, and it’s all about religion.”
The first two episodes were released on Nov. 16, with new releases each week. The last of the Disney+ The Santa Clauses six episodes was released Wednesday.
