Five people are dead, and one is in serious condition after a gunman shot up a board meeting at a condominium in a suburb near Toronto, Canada.

Police say they received a call at 7:20 p.m. Sunday about an active shooter at a condo in Vaughan, Ontario, and arrived at the scene shortly after, getting into a confrontation with the suspect, an unidentified man.

The suspect was pronounced dead after being shot by police at the scene. Police do not currently know the motive of the suspect but did say there was no further threat to the community at this time.

When police arrived, they found a “horrendous scene where numerous victims were deceased,” York Regional Police Chief Jim MacSween said in a news conference.

Residents of the condominium were evacuated from their units following the shooting but were cleared by authorities to return to their condos after midnight, per a report from CNN.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and that the victims will not be named before the families are made aware of their deaths.
