Here is everything you need to know about the travel industry’s biggest sales event of the year.
What is Travel Tuesday?
Travel Tuesday, also called Travel Deal Tuesday, is a national shopping event where people will see more deals on travel, including international travel, than any other day in the post-Thanksgiving sales period. The end of the year travel period is often the best time to get deals on flights as airlines rush to fill up seats.
The event has not been around as long as Black Friday or Cyber Monday. It started in 2016, but it has generated a strong turnout in recent years.
When is Travel Tuesday?
Travel Tuesday will begin on Nov. 28. Some deals can be spotted immediately, but experts have encouraged travelers to watch for deals between 6:30 and 9:30 a.m. Eastern.
What kind of deals can consumers expect?
Some airlines, cruise lines, and hotels have already teased their discounts. For example, Royal Caribbean is offering as much as $750 off of select travel packages and a 30% discount on every cruise booked through the end of the day Tuesday.
Experts have encouraged prospective travelers to consider their destinations ahead of Tuesday and to be flexible when it comes to the date and location in case a deal sells out.
What are some airline deals?
Spirit Airlines, Frontier Airlines, American Airlines, United Airlines, JetBlue, Delta, and Canada Jetlines will all have Travel Tuesday deals this year.
Frontier has unveiled a deal on a yearlong “all you can fly” pass for under $500. There are also monthly and seasonal passes available. Spirit Airlines, known for being a budget airline, is offering flights as low as $20 to destinations like Las Vegas, Miami, and Chicago.
