Former President Donald Trump filed a lawsuit on Wednesday against New York Attorney General Letitia James to prevent her from appointing a watchdog on a revocable trust, saying she is embarking on a “crusade” against him.
In the 41-page lawsuit filed in Florida’s 15th Judicial Circuit Court, Trump argued that the watchdog would be “prying” because he uses the trust to manage his assets, he said in a statement on Wednesday, per the Hill.

“Crooked and highly partisan James now thinks it is the business of the State of New York to go after my revocable trust and pry into my private estate plan, only to look for ways to recklessly injure me, my family, my businesses, and my tens of millions of supporters,” Trump wrote.
He added that if he were “not elected President of the United States, and now leading in the polls by substantial margins against both Democrats and Republicans, this would not be happening.”
Trump is also facing a tax fraud lawsuit unveiled by James in September that is investigating the former president and three of his adult children for fraudulent business practices, seeking a minimum punishment of $250 million.
James has accused Trump of falsely inflating and deflating his assets to pay lower taxes and get better insurance coverage. She also alleged that he overstated his net worth by billions of dollars. All of the defendants have denied wrongdoing.
The former president filed a similar lawsuit in Manhattan last week asking the court to stop James from appointing the watchdog, saying it would nationalize his company, which violates the Constitution.

Trump argued in the Florida lawsuit that the watchdog appointment and James’s control of his trust would be a deprivation of privacy and property rights.
The lawsuit said James is “guided solely by political animus and a desire to harass, intimidate, and retaliate against President Trump.”
