Former President Donald Trump said his opponents were “getting desperate to stop our movement” while speaking at his first of two speeches in the nation’s capital on Friday night.

The former president gave the closing address at the Concerned Women for America Leadership Summit at the Capitol Hilton in Washington, D.C. and railed against the “far-left lunatics, perverts, and criminals,” touting his presidential record during the speech.

“It’s no wonder the far-left lunatics, perverts, and criminals are getting desperate to stop our movement by any means necessary. They are really trying to stop us, as you perhaps have read,” Trump said.

“It’s all they’re good at. They’re bad at policy. They have no idea what they are doing. They have open borders, no voter ID,” Trump said.

He then discussed how Democrats oppose voter ID laws but require screenings and identification to enter the Democratic National Convention, joking about his mug shot at one point. Trump then discussed criminal charges pressed against him in various jurisdictions.

“As you know, crooked Joe Biden and his radical left thugs have weaponized law enforcement to arrest their leading opponent — by a lot, leading — on fake and phony charges. It’s a phony deal. This is high-level election interference, and it’s happening for a single reason. And it’s because I’m the one candidate that they do not want to run against,” Trump said.

Trump also highlighted his judicial selections as president, including the three Supreme Court justices who ruled to overturn Roe v. Wade in the June 2022 decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. He also commented that Republicans “don’t know how to discuss” abortion, but he reaffirmed, “Democrats are the radicals” on abortion policy.

“One year ago, in a victory conservatives had been seeking for 50 years, those same Supreme Court justices and the Supreme Court ruled to end the moral and constitutional atrocity known as Roe v. Wade. Very important,” Trump said

“They’re the radicals, not us. The Democrats are the radicals,” he continued.

During the speech, Trump went after his opponents on the Left and Right. He called the Biden administration the most incompetent presidential administration in U.S. history and credited the Biden administration with his high poll numbers.

“There has never been a more incompetent administration in the history of this country than these clowns and thugs and very bad people that are running our country now and destroying our country. There’s never been anything like this,” Trump said.

The former president also took shots at Republican presidential candidates. Trump mentioned how Vivek Ramaswamy had proclaimed him the best president of the century and questioned, “Is he running against me?” The former president also hit Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), who is seen as his chief rival in the GOP field, calling him a “failed candidate” and accusing him of being a copycat.

“He went down like an injured bird out of the sky, and I’m actually quite happy about that,” Trump said about DeSantis’s poll numbers since going after the Florida governor.
