President-elect Donald Trump has nominated a new Federal Trade Commission chairman as he continues to make picks for his incoming administration.
Trump announced the promotion of current FTC Commissioner Andrew Ferguson to chairman and the nomination of Kimberly Guilfoyle as ambassador to Greece, along with Rep. Dan Bishop (R-NC) as the deputy director for budget at the Office of Management and Budget.
Ferguson will replace current FTC head Lina Khan, who earned praise from Democrats and Republicans for her antitrust efforts. Vice President-elect J.D. Vance said in March that she was
“one of the few people in the Biden administration that I think is doing a pretty good job.”
He then said in October that he agreed with her on some issues and disagreed with her on others.
Khan appeared to be the most likely member of the Biden administration that Trump would retain, but his nomination of Ferguson nixes that idea.
“Andrew has a proven record of standing up to Big Tech censorship, and protecting Freedom of Speech in our Great Country. Sworn in as a Commissioner on April 2, 2024, he will be able to fight on behalf of the American People on Day One of my Administration,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social. “Andrew will be the most America First, and pro-innovation FTC Chair in our Country’s History.”
Ferguson was Virginia’s solicitor general from 2022 to 2024 before being appointed by President Joe Biden to his position. In one of the more notable moves in his time as FTC commissioner, he dissented in a vote on whether the FTC would ban non-compete clauses, a move that would prevent employers from stopping their employees from working for rival companies.
Trump also nominated former Fox News host Guilfoyle, who is engaged to his son Donald Trump Jr., to be the U.S. ambassador to Greece.
“For many years, Kimberly has been a close friend and ally,” he said in a post on Truth Social. “Her extensive experience and leadership in law, media, and politics along with her sharp intellect make her supremely qualified to represent the United States, and safeguard its interests abroad.”
“Kimberly is perfectly suited to foster strong bilateral relations with Greece, advancing our interests on issues ranging from defense cooperation to trade and economic innovation,” he added.
Rep. Dan Bishop (R-NC) declined to run for reelection and chose instead to run for attorney general of North Carolina, a race he lost to Rep. Jeff Jackson (D-NC). He now, should he accept it and get confirmed by the Senate, has his next job.

“Dan has been a tireless fighter for our MAGA Movement in the House of Representatives on the Judiciary and Homeland Security Committees,” Trump said in a Truth Social post. “Dan will implement my cost-cutting and deregulatory agenda across all Agencies, and root out the Weaponized Deep State.”
Trump also nominated Tom Barrack as ambassador to Turkey, Ed Martin as the next chief of staff at the Office of Management and Budget, Mark Meador to be a commissioner on the Federal Trade Commission, and Jacob Helberg as undersecretary of state for economic growth, energy, and the environment.
