In his first of three Saturday rallies, former President Donald Trump addressed an electric crowd in Gastonia, North Carolina, with many attendees sporting garbage bags and construction vests to show support after President Joe Biden referred to Trump supporters as “garbage” on Tuesday.

A small convoy of garbage trucks paraded before the rally began. Trump estimated that there were 20,000 people in attendance at Gastonia Municipal Airport.

One rallygoer, Tyler Frederick, shared his experience at the event in addition to footage of the crowd and speakers with the Washington Examiner.

“(The) atmosphere is vibrant and alive,” Frederick said.

“People are wearing safety vests and garbage bags everywhere,” he added. “I personally had eight young high school guys behind me in line to the rally, all wearing trash bags.”

Trump addressed the “garbage” comment during the rally, comparing it to when Hillary Clinton referred to his supporters as “deplorable” and “irredeemable” in 2016 before she lost the election.

Vice President Kamala Harris has distanced herself from Biden’s “garbage” jab after it received criticism from both sides of the aisle. She said, “I strongly disagree with any criticism of people based on who they vote for.”
