Former President Donald Trump dismissed concerns that President Joe Biden, 80, is too old to run for reelection in 2024, saying he is “not too old” but incompetent.
Trump, who is a few years younger at 77, called Biden “grossly incompetent” during a new interview with Megyn Kelly that comes out on Thursday.

Biden would be 86 at the end of a second term.
In a clip teasing the full interview, Trump tells Kelly, “I have many friends who are in their 80s. I have friends, Bernie Marcus, that are in their 90s, and they’re sharp as a tack.”
“Not old. He’s incompetent,” he said of Biden.
Kelly was referring to a recent poll showing that 77% of people think Biden is too old to serve another four-year term as president effectively. The poll also had more than half of respondents saying the same about Trump.
“Age is interesting because some people are very sharp and some people do lose it — but you lose it at 40 and 50,” according to Trump.
“He’s not too old at all,” he said of Biden. “He’s grossly incompetent.”
“You look at some of the great world leaders — they were in their 80s,” he said. “They were phenomenal in their 80s. There’s a great wisdom if you’re not in a position like [Biden], but if you go back 25 years, he wasn’t the sharpest tack, either.”

The age of Trump and Biden, who are favored to be the nominees for the Republican and Democratic parties, respectively, has prompted such concern that the No Labels party is considering nominating a presidential candidate to challenge them.
The centrist group said it would only do so “in the event both major parties nominate presidential candidates that the vast majority of Americans don’t want.” The party has made it on the ballots in at least 10 states. Speculation has swirled around possible centrist Republicans and Democrats who might sign on to a No Labels ticket.
