Former President Donald Trump slammed President Joe Biden‘s decision to picket with United Auto Workers union members who are on strike, ahead of his own trip to visit striking workers.
Biden announced on Friday that he will be visiting with workers in Detroit, Michigan, on Tuesday. Trump went after Biden’s policies, specifically on the “electric car hoax,” as having “sold them down the river,” in a lengthy post on Truth Social early Saturday morning.

“Crooked Joe Biden had no intention of going to visit the United Autoworkers, until I announced that I would be heading to Michigan to be with them, & help then out. Actually, Crooked Joe sold them down the river with his ridiculous all Electric Car Hoax,” Trump wrote. “This wasn’t Biden’s idea, he can’t put two sentences together. It was the idea of the Radical Left Fascists, Marxists, & Communists who control him and who, in so doing, are DESTROYING OUR COUNTRY! Within 3 years, all of these cars will be made in China. That’s what Sleepy Joe wants, because China pays him and his family a FORTUNE. He is a Manchurian Candidate.”
Trump then warned that if he is not endorsed by union leadership for the 2024 election and proceeds to lose the election, then autoworkers will be “toast.”
“If the UAW ‘leadership’ doesn’t ENDORSE me, and if I don’t win the Election, the Autoworkers are ‘toast,’ with our great truckers to follow. Crooked Joe Biden is the most Corrupt and Incompetent President in the history of the USA. If he is able to gather the energy to show up, tell him to go to the Southern Border instead, & to leave the Car Industry alone!” Trump concluded.
UAW president Shawn Fain slammed Trump’s plan to visit union workers next week, claiming Trump is disconnected from the needs of union workers.
“Every fiber of our union is being poured into fighting the billionaire class and an economy that enriches people like Donald Trump at the expense of workers,” Fain said in a statement. “We can’t keep electing billionaires and millionaires that don’t have any understanding what it is like to live paycheck to paycheck and struggle to get by and expecting them to solve the problems of the working class.”

The historic strike began more than a week ago after negotiations between the UAW and Detroit automakers stalled. The union is pursuing various changes to workers’ contracts, including a 36% pay bump over the next four years.
The union expanded its strike on Friday after little progress had been made between the Big Three Detroit automakers, Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis. The expanded strike now includes 38 parts distribution facilities across 20 states.
