Former President Donald Trump took verbal shots at Gov. Kim Reynolds (R-IA) as he departed the Hawkeye state after making an appearance at the Iowa State Fair.

Trump aired his grievances about the governor in light of her decision against endorsing any single candidate in their party currently vying for the Republican National Convention’s 2024 presidential nomination.

Speaking from the tarmac after taking the stage on Saturday at the annual fair, Trump stated, referencing Reynolds, “I got her elected. I endorsed her, I came and did a rally when she was very far behind.”

He furthered, “I like her very much, and I was very happy to do a rally, we did the rally and she ended up going up, I actually did a couple of rallies for her, and she ended up winning the election instead of losing the election. I like her very much, that’s why I came to do rallies for her.”

Trump also touted what described as his administration’s other successes, claiming, “the fact is we had a great four years. What we did in four years was build the greatest economy in the world … [inaudible] actually twice, because it was interrupted, unfortunately, by a gift from China, COVID, and it should’ve never happened.”

On the matter of his overseeing of the military, the former president highlighted his handling of the armed forces, saying, “we rebuilt our military … we got out of all the wars, we beat ISIS, we defeated ISIS, we took out the worst terrorists in all the world, we did more than just about any president has done.”
