Special counsel Jack Smith has reportedly subpoenaed several Secret Service agents close to former President Donald Trump regarding his investigations of the former president.

The Secret Service members are likely to testify before a Washington, D.C., grand jury on Friday, per Fox News’s Bret Baier.

The subpoenas are reportedly related to the investigation into Trump’s handling of classified documents. The investigation included an FBI raid on his residence at Mar-a-Lago in August 2022.

Since the DOJ announced an investigation into Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified documents, President Joe Biden and former Vice President Mike Pence have discovered improperly stored classified materials. A special counsel, Robert Hur, was appointed to investigate Biden’s alleged mishandling of classified documents.

Other individuals who have reportedly been subpoenaed to testify include former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows, former White House advisers Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, along with Pence.

Pence challenged a subpoena from Smith, for his investigations regarding the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021, by citing the separation of powers, noting that he was serving in his role as president of the Senate during the riot.

A judge ruled that Pence is immune from answering some questions related to his job as president of the Senate but would still have to appear before the grand jury and answer questions.

Smith was appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland in November 2022 after Trump announced his presidential campaign. The investigations Smith is conducting involve Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified documents and his potential role in the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021.
