Former President Donald Trump posted several messages early Wednesday blasting the decision by the Colorado Supreme Court that he is ineligible to be president under the 14th Amendment.

The high court in Colorado found that the former president was ineligible under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which forbids those who have committed acts of insurrection from seeking office. Trump posted a series of messages calling it a “sad day in America” on Truth Social on Wednesday.

“WHAT A SHAME FOR OUR COUNTRY!!!” he said in the first post.

Trump also said that President Joe Biden should drop the other indictments against him from prosecutors in New York, Washington, D.C., Florida, and Georgia, among others, alleging it was “election interference.”


“BIDEN SHOULD DROP ALL OF THESE FAKE POLITICAL INDICTMENTS AGAINST ME, BOTH CRIMINAL & CIVIL. EVERY CASE I AM FIGHTING IS THE WORK OF THE DOJ & WHITE HOUSE. NO SUCH THING HAS EVER HAPPENED IN OUR COUNTRY BEFORE. BANANA REPUBLIC??? ELECTION INTERFERENCE!!!” Trump said in a post.


“A SAD DAY IN AMERICA!!!” he said in a third post.

The decision by the Colorado Supreme Court was stayed until Jan. 4, pending an appellate ruling, with the United States Supreme Court expected to rule on Trump’s eligibility for the presidency.

In addition to the legal challenges regarding his eligibility, Trump faces 91 charges in four criminal indictments. The indictments range from alleged falsification of business records, to alleged mishandling of classified documents, to alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

Trump is widely considered the front-runner in the Republican presidential primary, polling ahead of all other GOP candidates in all early primary states, per the RealClearPolitics polling average.
