Political commentator Brian Kilmeade filled in for Tucker Carlson on Fox News Tonight on Monday. The substitute host provided limited information on Carlson’s departure.
Kilmeade introduced the show by reminding viewers that Carlson and the network agreed to “part ways.” He then jumped into the rest of the segment. Fox News announced Carlson’s departure Monday after seven years of hosting the slot.

“I wish Tucker the best,” Kilmeade said Monday night. “I’m great friends with Tucker and always will be.”
Kilmeade is one of several hosts from various Fox shows who could replace Carlson on the prime-time show at 8 p.m. He serves as a co-host on Fox & Friends with Steve Doocy and Ainsley Earhardt. The show airs from 6-9 a.m. Kilmeade also hosts the Saturday show One Nation with Brian Kilmeade from 8-9 p.m.
He offered no other comments on Carlson throughout the Fox News Tonight program, handing things over smoothly to host Sean Hannity for his show, The Sean Hannity Show. Hannity did not mention Carlson’s departure at all.
The last episode of Tucker Carlson Tonight, which began in 2016, aired on Friday. Carlson will not produce any more content for Fox News. His departure came on the same day CNN announced they had fired host Don Lemon.

Carlson left a cryptic ad on his website regarding his next moves despite remaining silent on the matter. The ad prompted people to sign up to “become a tuckercarlson.com insider to find out what Tucker’s up to next.”
Fox Corporation’s stock lost $1 billion in market capitalization minutes after news of Carlson’s departure broke.
