Former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard fired back in response to musician Jack White’s criticism to what he called the “normalizing” of former President Donald Trump.

Gabbard’s rebuke follows a recent post to social media made by the White Stripes guitarist, in which he criticized Trump, and called him “disgusting.”

The former congresswoman served in the House from 2013 until 2021, and mounted a presidential campaign in 2018 in an effort to secure the Democratic party’s nomination for president.

In a tweet Saturday, Gabbard writes, “Jack White recently expressed his disdain for anyone who “normalizes” Trump,” and accompanied the post with an image and description shared to White’s official instagram account.

“In the meantime, what he wants us to do is normalize those in power abusing that power to go after political opponents, using the strong arm of the law as their goon squad,” she added.

The Seven Nation Army singer’s original post takes issue with specific celebrities, who he accused of assisting in “normalizing” the former president.
