Universal Studios claims it did not trim the trees outside its headquarters to intentionally expose picketers to the sun there.

“We understand that the safety tree trimming of the ficus trees we did on Barham Blvd has created unintended challenges for demonstrators, that was not our intention,” NBC Universal told Fox News Digital.

The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists National Board voted to strike earlier this month, with the strike entering its tenth day.

SAG-AFTRA passed its second negotiation deadline with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers Wednesday. Both originally began negotiating on June 7 with a June 30th deadline, but it was ultimately extended to July 12. AMPTP represents Amazon/MGM, Apple, NBCUniversal, Disney/ABC/Fox, Netflix, Paramount/CBS, Sony, and Warner Bros.

Meanwhile, the Writers Guild of America also opted to strike after not reaching an agreement with the AMPTP, and they are approaching their 80th day striking for higher wages.

The SAG-AFTRA strike is the first one in 43 years. It joined the Writers Guild of America, which includes some 11,500 writers. WGA has come to a head with the same group of studios, networks, and streamers over higher wages. SAG-AFTRA is fighting for wages as well, but also for protections against artificial intelligence.

The last time WGA and SAG-AFTRA were simultaneously on strike was in 1960, with Ronald Reagan at the helm before he ran for president.
