Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) dodged a question during an interview about whether President Joe Biden should keep Vice President Kamala Harris as his running mate should he run for reelection.

The Massachusetts Democrat was supportive of Biden running in 2024 when asked if she thinks he should run for reelection during an interview with Boston Public Radio on Friday. Warren was also asked if Biden should keep Harris as his vice president in the next election, according to Mediaite.

“Y’know, ah, you know, I really want to defer to what makes Biden comfortable on his team,” Warren said. “I’ve known Kamala for a long time. I like Kamala. I knew her back when she was when she was attorney general. And I was still teaching. And we worked on the housing crisis together. So we go way back. But they need, they have to be a team. And my sense is they are. I don’t mean that by suggesting I think there are any problems. I think they are.”

Despite failing to give a direct answer regarding Harris, Warren offered praise to Biden and his achievements during his first two years in office, including passing the Inflation Reduction Act and the CHIPS and Science Act into law.

Biden has yet to announce whether he will run for reelection, seemingly casting doubt on another presidential run in November 2022. A total of 58% of Democratic voters say they want Biden to be at the top of their 2024 ticket, compared to 42% who said they would prefer someone else, according to the latest Emerson College poll released on Tuesday.

Currently, the only GOP candidates running for the party’s nomination to challenge Biden are former President Donald Trump, who announced his candidacy shortly after the 2022 midterm elections, and West Virginia businessman Rollan Roberts II, who announced his candidacy on Jan. 20. Polling released Tuesday showed that Trump has a lead of 44%-41% over Biden, a flip from Biden’s 45%-41% lead in November, according to Emerson College Polling.
