Washington Commanders rookie Running Back Brian Robinson Jr. is recovering after being shot in an apparent carjacking, authorities said Sunday.

D.C. Police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck confirmed that Robinson was the victim in a shooting incident that occurred shortly before 6 p.m. EST on the 1000 block of H Street NE. Sternbeck said Robinson was taken to the hospital to treat injuries that were not believed to be life threatening.

The Commanders released a statement late Sunday on the incident.
“We have been made aware that Brian Robinson, Jr. was the victim of an attempted armed robbery or carjacking in Washington, D.C. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is currently being treated at the hospital, where Team officials are on-site with him. We ask that you please respect Brian’s privacy at this time,” the statement read.
