Another busload of immigrants believed to be from Venezuela and Nicaragua was dropped outside of the home of Vice President Kamala Harris on Saturday morning in Washington, D.C.
The bus consisted of men, women, and infants, according to video footage from a reporter with NBC who arrived outside of the residence Saturday morning. The bus was the third sent to the vice president by Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) this week and was meant as a retaliation to Harris’s comment that America’s border with Mexico was “secure.”

Minutes ago, a bus of migrants sent from Texas arrived outside the Naval Observatory in Washington DC. We’re told they’re from Venezuela and Nicaragua. Men, women, children – even newborns. This is the second bus to arrive outside of the VP’s residence this week. @NBCNews pic.twitter.com/P7dHGQ3CMJ

“The Biden-Harris Administration continues ignoring and denying the historic crisis at our southern border, which has endangered and overwhelmed Texas communities for almost two years,” Abbott said in a press release. “Our supposed Border Czar, Vice President Kamala Harris, has yet to even visit the border to see firsthand the impact of the open border policies she has helped implement, even going so far as to claim the border is ‘secure.’ Texas will continue sending migrants to sanctuary cities like Washington, D.C., until President Biden and Border Czar Harris step up and do their jobs to secure the border.”
Harris has been dubbed by conservative detractors as the “border czar” after President Joe Biden made her the point person for immigration problems dogging the country last year.
Two other buses containing 101 immigrants arrived Thursday as part of Abbott’s efforts to send immigrants who crossed the southern border illegally to sanctuary cities as a record number of immigrants illegally enter the country.
Since April, Texas has bused over 7,900 immigrants to Washington, D.C., and since Aug. 5, transported over 2,200 migrants to New York City as part of “Operation Lone Star,” according to data from the Texas governor’s office. Recently, Texas added Chicago to the mix and sent over 300 immigrants there.
Meet the Press host Chuck Todd pressed Harris on the illegal crossings in an interview Monday, noting that arrests at the border are projected to eclipse a record-breaking 2 million for fiscal year 2022, which ends this month. Over 1.82 million arrests have been made between last October and mid-August, per the Wall Street Journal.
“We have a secure border, and that is a priority for any nation, including ours and our administration. But there are still a lot of problems that we are trying to fix, given the deterioration that happened over the last four years,” Harris said.
Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser has snapped back at Abbott, decrying the busing gambit as “a politically motivated stunt.” She recently opened an office to respond to the large increase of immigrants pouring into the capital from Texas and unsuccessfully lobbied for National Guard logistical support.

Other red states drastically affected by the entry of illegal immigrants have seemingly hopped on the bandwagon as well. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis sent two planeloads to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, on Wednesday, and Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey also sent busloads of immigrants to Washington.
