Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) reaffirmed his gratitude for President Joe Biden’s cooperation in the Hurricane Ian response effort.
In an interview with Sean Hannity, the Florida governor echoed his earlier statements at a press conference, at which he made known his desire to do away with “pettiness” to best respond to the massive storm.

“When people’s lives and their property are at risk like this, we all need to work together regardless of party lines. The Biden administration has approved our request for a pre-landfall declaration and did that very quickly, so we are very thankful for that,” he said. “And it’s my sense that the administration wants to help. I think they realize that this is a really significant storm.”

He didn’t deny that a phone call took place between himself and the president, confirmed earlier by White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre in a tweet, but did not provide any further details of the phone call when asked by Hannity.
Jean-Pierre tweeted that Biden spoke with DeSantis on Tuesday evening. She added that both Biden and the Florida governor are “committed to continued close coordination.”
