Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) made the trip to Kansas City, Missouri to catch the Jacksonville Jaguars game Saturday.

Chiefs fans were seen giving the Florida governor high fives and filming him on their phones. The Jaguars would go on to lose the game to the home team.

After making an on-stage appearance at a Luke Bryan concert last year, the country star received backlash for getting involved in politics. DeSantis used his cameo at the concert to raise awareness about the funds being raised in the name of Hurricane Ian. Bryan would go on to address the controversy and defend the governor’s presence as it was for a good cause.

DeSantis’s presence at the game comes as he is favored to run for president in 2024. The Florida governor has made trips nationwide in recent months to stump for Republican candidates. However, former President Donald Trump holds an early lead over his possible 2024 primary opponents, coming in 20 points ahead of DeSantis who has been his closest challenger, according to the latest poll.
