Before winning the 2022 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, Joey Chestnut took down a protester who interrupted the event on Independence Day.

In a clip shared on Twitter, a protester can be seen butting in front of participants on the stage. Chestnut quickly put the trespasser in a chokehold and took the person down without missing a bite.

Security then removed the individual from the stage, according to SB Nation.

The protester was reportedly dressed as Darth Vader and was holding a sign that read “Expose Smithfield Deathstar.” The reference is speculated to be related to an animal rights issue.

Chestnut won the contest by eating 63 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes, 13 short of the world record he set at the contest last year. Chestnut won for the seventh consecutive time and 15th overall.
