The House Financial Services Committee is holding a hearing on Iran’s support for terrorism.

The hearing is set to begin at 9 a.m. Assistant Secretary for Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes Elizabeth Rosenberg and Deputy Special Envoy to Iran Abram Paley will be testifying.

Iran has extended its influence throughout the Middle East through various Shiite proxy groups, especially in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Yemen. The groups, which often engage in terrorist tactics, have grown to the extent that several of the countries have come to be de facto ruled by Iran.

The two most powerful proxies are Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen. These groups have garnered increased attention due to their involvement in events surrounding the Israel-Hamas war.
