Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) climbed into a cage as part of a Jan. 6 exhibit at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Dallas.
The Georgia Republican teamed up with right-wing internet personality Brandon Straka, who has been sitting barefoot in a cage and crying at CPAC Texas. The display also included audio recordings of Jan. 6 rioters describing their arrests.
Straka pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of engaging in disorderly and disruptive conduct in the Capitol Building or grounds, avoiding jail time and receiving 90 days of home confinement and three years of probation at his sentencing. It was later reported he provided “significant information” about pro-Trump “Stop The Steal” organizers, including Ali Alexander, Amy and Kylie Kremer, and Cindy Chafian, providing information that was “valuable in the government’s prosecution.”
REP. ANDY BIGGS HECKLED BY CPAC FOR NOT DOING ENOUGH TO AID JAN. 6 DEFENDANTS
On Friday, Greene climbed into the cage with Straka about 90 minutes after he stormed the CPAC stage while Andy Biggs (R-AZ) was speaking. Straka said not a single sitting congressman had helped him since he was arrested. Passersby cheered Greene on as she entered.
Straka accepted Greene’s hug, which was followed by Greene kneeling at his feet, holding his hand, and exchanging words. At one point, it appeared that the two were praying together. They could be seen sharing a kiss on the cheek before Greene left the cage.
“God bless you, Marjorie,” another man is heard saying.
Greene’s office did not respond to the Washington Examiner’s request for comment.
Greene went on to defend podcaster Alex Jones, saying that while “no one agrees with what he said,” she suggested he didn’t deserve “being politically persecuted right now.” A jury recently ordered him to pay $45.2 million in damages to a pair of parents of a Sandy Hook shooting victim.
