A New Jersey man found more than $2,000 under his front porch while making renovations.
“I thought it was trash,” Rich Gilson told FOX 29.
Gilson was shocked when he discovered he’d dug up two tightly wound rolls of pristine 10 and 20-dollar bills — all minted in 1934.
“My wife was in there, painting, and I said, ‘You got to come see this. You won’t believe what I just found,'” Gilson explained.

Taking inflation into account, that amount of cash would have been worth nearly $43,000 when it was hidden.
“Either somebody robbed a bank and buried it there,” Gilson said. “Or somebody didn’t trust the banks in 1934, during the height of the Depression.”

Gilson said he plans to keep the money and enjoy sharing the story.
