One nonprofit group in Arizona is keeping immigrants off the streets of their tiny border town by helping send them to their final destination. When there was a surge across the border, the health center wanted to help give COVID-19 tests to people who had traveled such a long distance.
With the help of other nonprofit groups and millions of dollars of their own money, this organization has turned into a logistical center for immigrants trying to reach their final destination.
The organization helps immigrants book bus and plane tickets across the United States. The president and CEO said if they were to stop their work today, 350 people would be coming across the border and onto the streets of their town every day.
