After being accepted to eight Ivy League schools, Victor Agbafe chose and graduated from Harvard. He is now attending the University of Michigan’s medical school and Yale’s law school.

“Merging the language of medicine and law is key to sort of the broader impact I want to make,” Agbafe said, according to a report.

Agbafe, from Wilmington, North Carolina, said he will go back and forth between the schools.

He is currently studying for his USMLE Step 2-CK board exams that evaluate students’ proficiency in diagnosing illnesses and completing other tasks. He’ll then take a break from medical school and head to Yale to begin law school this summer.

“I chose Yale over acceptances from Harvard, Columbia, Georgetown, Duke, and other law schools,” Agbafe said.

Agbafe says he plans to return to the University of Michigan for his final year of medical school in the summer of 2026.

“I want to blend a mix of surgery, sort of in the daily flow, I’m really interested in cancer care,” Agbafe said. “And you know, how you can resect tumors, but then also the reconstruction aspect of things.”

“I want to also be involved in healthcare policy, you know, and making sure that people have affordable healthcare and access to care and making sure that prescription drugs are affordable,” he added.
