Washington Examiner commentary writer Tiana Lowe questioned the Biden administration’s leadership after neither President Joe Biden nor Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg has yet to visit the site of the Ohio train derailment.
Appearing on Fox Business’s Mornings with Maria Bartiromo, Lowe noted that Biden’s willingness to visit Ukraine amid the sounding of air raid sirens undermines his commitment to the American people.

“[Biden’s] willing to go to Ukraine, but not his own country,” Lowe said.
Lowe suggested that looking ahead to future elections, the Biden administration has little to gain from a visit to Ohio since voters there previously showed a commitment to the Republican Party. Additionally, the Biden administration has historically supported Norfolk Southern.
“It’s primarily those real swing former Democrats who really voted for Trump, so politically, there isn’t much for Buttigieg to gain by going there,” Lowe said. “The real issue is Norfolk Southern already knows where the Biden administration stands because Biden’s DOJ is backing Norfolk Southern in a standing Supreme Court argument right now against workers claiming health hazards. This is a prolonged problem, and one where the Biden administration has fully been on Norfolk Southern’s side. Consider the fact that the CEO posted a photo with Pete Buttigieg three months ago, boasting about how he is part of the Biden administration’s push away from cars to embrace rails. Here’s’s one of the consequences of Biden’s administration backing this [rail] company, life and death.”
Lowe also noted that there is little pressure on Biden given that the Democrats have few options for hopeful 2024 presidential candidates.
“What are you going to do with a guy who is 80 years old and looks like he might croak?” Lowe said, admitting that no one is wishing for the president’s death. “Who do you replace him with? Buttigieg? Mayor Pete or Kamala?”

On the Republican side, Lowe added that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has nothing to lose by waiting things out a little longer.
Haley, the former governor of South Carolina and a former United Nations ambassador, announced her presidential bid in a video last week. With the announcement, she becomes the first major Republican to challenge former President Donald Trump.
