The senator, who is fully vaccinated and boosted, said his symptoms were mild and that he was “feeling good and grateful” for being vaccinated.

“I tested positive for Covid this morning after experiencing some mild symptoms. I’m feeling good and grateful to be fully vaccinated and boosted. Will be working from home over the holiday week and already looking forward to next year’s Bristol 4th of July parade,” Whitehouse tweeted.

Whitehouse is the latest person in and around Washington to test positive. He joins the likes of Vice President Kamala Harris, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), and Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser, all of whom tested positive in April. Secretary of State Antony Blinken tested positive in May.

The latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed that nearly 67% of citizens in the United States are fully vaccinated, with 78% having received at least one shot.
