“There are at least 10 wildfires in Bonita Springs, spanning across 12 miles,” a report from NBC2 said. “I-75 has been shut down from Bonita Beach Road to Corkscrew Road–mile marker 116 to 123.”

I-75 incident cameras showed both blackened areas along the interstate and flames on the east side of the highway.

The Florida Highway Patrol has issued an advisory saying that northbound Interstate 75 remains open from Exit 116 (Bonita Beach Road) to Exit 123 (Corkscrew Road). The highway patrol has also stated that winds are currently blowing smoke to the east, which is away from I-75, and troopers would continue to closely monitor the situation, providing updates when needed.

The highway patrol has warned that wildfires, along with smoke, fog and heavy rain, can all lower drivers visibility. When driving close or in these conditions, drivers should take the necessary precautions needed to drive safely.

Some steps drivers can take to drive safely through weather include driving with the low beam lights on, driving slowly, and keeping their eyes out for slower moving vehicles.
