Elon Musk announced a new privacy feature on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
“You can now hide your likes, but I recommend keeping them open and just using bookmarks for interesting posts,” Musk posted on X Thursday. This new function only works for premium subscribers that are paying into using the platform.
As Musk pointed out, there is a bookmark function that allows users to save posts to view later. Bookmarked posts can be viewed only by the user, while the number of bookmarks for each post is labeled.
This comes over a month after NASCAR driver Noah Gragson was removed from the Cup Series race after being indefinitely suspended for his Instagram activity. Gragson, 25, liked an Instagram post meme of screenshots that mocked George Floyd, a black man killed by a Minneapolis police officer in 2020. Legacy Motor Club subsequently suspended Gragson but did not cite this specific meme.
NASCAR reinstated Gragson Tuesday, noting the driver’s completed diversity and inclusion training.
The NASCAR driver has over 120,000 followers but has not posted on the platform in over a year.

Musk revealed in July that X had received a new monthly high of users at over 541,000,000. It was ranked the fastest-loading social media site by web design company DigitalSilk.com.
According to Musk, the platform’s U.S. ad revenue remains at a 60% low since he took over late last year. Current CEO Linda Yaccarino confirmed that Coca-Cola and Visa returned to the platform as advertisers after having briefly stopped advertising on the site.
