A private jet with five people on board crash-landed on a Florida interstate highway Friday, where it collided with two cars and killed two people.
Per the National Transportation Safety Board, the Bombardier Challenger 600 took off from Ohio and was slated to land at Naples Airport. Shortly before it attempted its landing on the southbound lane of Interstate 75 near Naples, the pilot claimed over the radio that the turbofan engines failed. As a result, the NTSB is investigating the cause of the crash.
The entire highway shut down until Friday evening, when the northbound lanes opened up. As the investigation is ongoing, the southbound lanes remain closed.

Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Molly Best said there were three survivors from the plane. It remains to be seen how many passengers were in the car and truck that the plane struck.
This plane was operated by Hop-A-Jet Worldwide Jet Charter, which hires and trains its own pilots and crew in addition to dispatching flights. The company did not respond to the Washington Examiner’s request for comment.
