NBC chief political analyst Chuck Todd is planning to leave the news network when his contract expires this year, according to a report.

Todd, who was a longtime host of NBC’s Meet the Press, has been telling editors and leaders of other media outlets about his plans to leave the network, Semafor reported on Sunday night. He has also discussed working in other roles outside of NBC, including in broadcast and digital media.

Todd, 52, stepped down from his position as host of Meet the Press in September 2023 after nine years of hosting the program. Kristen Welker took over what is the longest-running news program on television.

When NBC hired former Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel as an analyst in 2023, he blasted the network, telling Welker, “I think our bosses owe you an apology for putting you in this situation.”

NBC reversed its decision days later, cutting all ties with McDaniel.

The report added that this incident led some at NBC to question his future at the network.
