Fresh off announcing her departure from the Democratic Party, Tulsi Gabbard will campaign for rising MAGA star Kari Lake, who is running for Arizona governor.

Lake’s campaign announced Gabbard, who used to be a representative from Hawaii, will appear for an Arizona Young Republican Engagement Forum in Chandler, Arizona, on Tuesday.

The event, which is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. local time, will also feature Blake Masters, GOP candidate for U.S. Senate, and Abe Hamadeh, candidate for Arizona attorney general. Lake, Masters, and Hamadeh have all been endorsed by former President Donald Trump.

Gabbard, who once was vice chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee and ran for president in 2020, announced last week she was leaving the Democratic Party, claiming it is now under the “control of an elitist cabal of warmongers.”

Lake is “a leader who puts people first, is fighting for border security, energy independence, public safety, and other policies that actually make life better and more affordable for the American people,” Gabbard said in a series of tweets. Gabbard also said Lake “isn’t afraid to call out the warmongering elitist cabal of permanent Washington and the Military Industrial Complex, and their propagandists in the mainstream media,” and, “I look forward to supporting [Lake] ahead of these critical midterm elections.”

Lake replied: “Truly an honor to have an endorsement from this American Hero.”

Gabbard, who in addition to her political career is an Army Reserve officer and combat veteran, has already turned out for Republican New Hampshire Senate nominee Don Bolduc this week.

Lake is a former journalist who has made waves particularly with her focus on election integrity. She is running against Democrat Katie Hobbs, who is Arizona’s secretary of state. Lake’s upstart campaign reportedly has Democrats spooked. Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA), another rising force in the Republican Party, is also hitting the campaign trail for Lake as he embarks on a fall tour of several states around the country to support GOP candidates running in the midterm elections.
