JANUARY: The Biden administration retrieves 15 boxes of White House documents from Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s South Florida club and post-presidency residence, some of which include classified information.

FEBRUARY: Trump launches Truth Social, his personal social media site under the Trump Media and Technology Group banner, after being banned from Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter the year prior.

APRIL: The Justice Department opens a new investigation into Trump’s handling of White House documents and convenes a grand jury.

MAY 11, 2022: The DOJ subpoenas Trump for additional material believed to be kept at Mar-a-Lago.

JUNE 3, 2022: FBI officials again visit Mar-a-Lago to receive additional White House documents, willingly provided by Trump’s legal team.

JUNE: The DOJ subpoenas and receives surveillance footage from Mar-a-Lago.

JUNE 9, 2022: The Jan. 6 committee holds its first of 10 public hearings presenting evidence of Trump’s plan to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

JULY 14, 2022: Ivana Trump, who was the first wife of the former president and the mother of Ivanka Trump, Eric Trump, and Donald Trump Jr., dies at her New York home.

AUG. 8, 2022: FBI agents enter Mar-a-Lago and search the area for additional documents Trump improperly took with him after leaving office.

AUG. 11, 2022: The DOJ releases the search warrant authorizing the Mar-a-Lago search and a detailed list of what agents took and found, including 11 classified documents.

NOV. 12, 2022: Tiffany Trump, the former president’s youngest daughter, is married at Mar-a-Lago.

NOV. 15, 2022: Trump announces his 2024 presidential campaign at Mar-a-Lago.

NOV. 19, 2022: Elon Musk restores Trump’s personal Twitter account.

NOV. 22, 2022: The Supreme Court denies Trump’s final request to block the House Ways and Means Committee from reviewing his personal tax returns.

NOV. 22, 2022: Attorneys for E. Jean Carroll announce she will file a new battery and defamation civil suit against Trump following the implementation of New York’s new adult survivors law.

NOV. 22, 2022: Attorney General Merrick Garland taps former Hague war crimes prosecutor Jack Smith to serve as the special counsel overseeing potential criminal charges relating to the DOJ’s separate investigations into Trump’s behavior on and leading up to Jan. 6 and his handling of classified information.

NOV. 22, 2022: Trump hosts Kanye West, Milo Yiannopoulos, and Nick Fuentes at Mar-a-Lago for dinner.

DEC. 6, 2022: The Trump Organization is convicted on 17 fraud-related charges, three years after New York Attorney General Letitia James opened an investigation into Trump’s business dealings.

DEC. 19, 2022: The Jan. 6 committee refers Trump and attorney John Eastman to the DOJ for prosecution, recommending Trump based on the following charges: conspiracy to make a false statement, conspiracy to defraud the United States, attempting to incite an insurrection, and obstruction of an official proceeding.

DEC. 28, 2022: The Jan. 6 committee withdraws its subpoena of Trump.
